West Seneca Pilot Composting Program

The Town of West Seneca and Farmer Pirates Compost have teamed up to offer West Seneca residents a free composting drop off program. Read below to learn more about this pilot program.

Phase 1

During the Spring and Summer of 2023, a pilot composting program took place for four months, sponsored by an anonymous West Seneca resident. Participants collected food scraps at home and brought them to the drop off location throughout the pilot. Due to positive feedback at the conclusion of this pilot, the Town of West Seneca decided to continue with Phase II!

Phase 1I

This next phase of the pilot took place over one full year and involved over 120 West Seneca households. Phase II included more available space for sign ups and monthly check ins with residents to understand how the pilot was progressing and could be improved.

Phase 1I Continuation

We are excited that Phase II will continue on for another year through January 27, 2026! To expand the program, there will now be space for 160 households to participate and a second drop off location will open May 6th, 2025.
